Founded
in 1959 by Sara O’Meara and Yvonne Fedderson,
Childhelp® is a leading
national non-profit organization dedicated to helping victims of child
abuse and neglect.Childhelp’s approach focuses on prevention, intervention and treatment. The Childhelp® National Child Abuse Hotline, 1-800-4-A-CHILD, operates 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and receives calls from throughout the United States, Canada, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico and Guam.
Childhelp’s programs and services also include residential treatment services (villages); children’s advocacy centers; therapeutic foster care; group homes; child abuse prevention, education and training; and the National Day of Hope®, part of National Child Abuse Prevention Month every April. Several of Chidhelp’s programs were firsts, and continue to be studied by professionals worldwide as "models that work."
Sara O'Meara and Yvonne Fedderson continue to actively lead the organization and provide its vision, serving as Chairman/CEO and President, respectively.
At www.networkforgood.org, users can donate to more than one million charities and search from among more than 36,000 volunteer opportunities. In addition, non-profits can access tools for fundraising, volunteer recruitment and donor communication. Founded in 2001 by America Online, Cisco Systems and Yahoo!, Network for Good is an independent 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization headquartered in Bethesda, MD.
Today, in addition to domestic disaster relief, the American Red Cross
offers compassionate services in five other areas:Community services that help the needy;
support and comfort for military members and their families;
the collection, processing and distribution of lifesaving blood and blood products; educational programs that promote health and safety; and international relief and development programs.
